The story requires a child looking for an experience having a godlike beast, checking out motifs of spiritualty and religion.Jason Roberts started to build a card video game influenced by synergistic comics in his free time although doing work full-time, but future planned the design was too complicated. The video game has been around full-time programming for 2 years. Roberts used the name Gorogoa coming from a title he created for an fictional animal in the youngsters. He selected it for the video game since it was not part of any present language; looking for the video game to be available to anybody, despite language, and thus selecting never to include any to the game. The game's audio is consisting by Austin Wintory, who also made up the audio for 2012 video game Journey, and Eduardo Ortiz Frau is the game's sound developer.
Gorogoa is created in a custom-built video game motor developed by Roberts in Java, and all pictures are hand drawn by Roberts. Roberts cites David Roberts, Gustave Doré, Christopher Manson, and Chris Ware as affects to his art design.
